City of Saint Paul

City-of-Saint-Paul_transThe CHS Field is owned by the City of Saint Paul, and the construction project is being led by the city’s Parks and Recreation Department.  When it is complete, the ballpark will be one of the city’s 170 parks and open spaces.  The Parks and Recreation Department will manage the use of the facility for non-baseball events.

The CHS Field is part of Mayor Chris Coleman’s strategic vision for Saint Paul.  The project will create almost 500 full- and part-time jobs, bring 400,000 visitors to downtown Saint Paul, and spur millions of dollars in economic impact annually.  It will build on the energy and investment from the Central Corridor Green Line light rail, the redevelopment of Union Depot, and a number of private sector projects that are attracting new jobs and hundreds of units of market-rate housing.

The ballpark project is a public-private partnership.  The business community and city leadership worked together to secure the support and funding necessary to move the project forward.  It is an example of the Saint Paul community working together to strengthen the downtown area and make the city an even better place to live, work and visit.
